Local Boy Makes Good

April 11th, 2009 (10:45 am)

current mood: tired

My little boy is famous. Again. A local newspaper, the Alexandria Gazette-Packet, is running a story in this week's edition about his letter being featured in the Random House book, Kids' Letters to President Obama. I can't post a link because I can't access the page from this computer. (I'm in a hotel lobby.) I was able to access it from the computers in the business center, but they're currently all in use. Apparently this one has only bare-bones internet access, and no Adobe. I'll post a direct link to the article - and photo - when I get home.

In the meantime, I can tell you how to access the article online. If you type in www.Alexandriagazette.com you will reach the Connection Newspaper Chain website. Click on the line about reaching a .pdf file of this week's paper, and choose Alexandria. Search for Petrini (my name's on a letter to the editor this week, so you'll find two) or just page forward until you get to the page with a photo at the top of a cute little boy posing with an Obama yard sign. I think it's around page 17 or so, but I don't remember for sure.

I'll post a more direct link when I can.

Basically, the article is a (very slight) rewrite of the press release I sent. My name isn't on it, or on the photograph, which I took. But it's my first publishing credit of the year. Pretty pathetic, I know.
