This Train Is Bound For Philly

November 22nd, 2008 (09:44 am)

current mood: bouncy

I'm heading up to Philadelphia today for an overnight stay. My husband has been there at a conference for a few days, and Cutie Pie and I are joining him at his hotel for the final night. He already has his car there. And with the price of tolls, gas, and parking at a center city hotel, I realized that taking Amtrak would be no more expensive than driving, especially since kids ride free. So we're traveling up by train this afternoon -- a great adventure for my train-crazed little boy. He's been on commuter trains, but never a real, long-distance passenger train.

I wish I could go to Philcon, too, like klingonguy and several other of my writer friends. It's in Philadelphia this weekend, but it's on the other side of town, and I doubt I'll have the time or means to get there. Maybe next year.

This trip will no doubt put me even further behind on my www.nanowrimo.org novel-writing progress, but there's not much I can do about that. Weekends are bad for writing for me, anyhow. I get a lot more done during the week, when my son is at school. I don't have a laptop, but I'm bringing my paper journal along and will write some the old-fashioned way.

I'll be back tomorrow.

You were missed.

curiously, on the drive home, I was stunned at just how close Cherry Hill (and the convention hotel) are to Center City, Philadelphia.

Ah well.
