Technical Difficulties Easing Up?

current mood: relieved
It rained again last night. As water dripped from the ceiling onto my keyboard, my computer genius husband and I puzzled out some of the problems I've been having with my system. Some of them will have to wait until he has time to do the complete overhaul it really needs. But we did determine that unplugging the wireless router in the living room and plugging it in again would make it resume sending broadband vibes in my direction. A highly un-technical solution, but for now, it's working.
I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the tinkering we did last night, but LJ has suddenly resumed including all the necessary tabs and icons for adding photos to this page, tabs and icons that for some reason had disappeared for the last few days. Of course, now I can't get into AOL for some reason, which could become an issue if I can't figure it out before my e-mail piles up. The Computer Gods giveth, and they taketh away. I'm hoping that this one is an AOL thing that will resolve itself. I know, dream on....

Late update: AOL is working now, too. But we really do need to upgrade this system and figure out where the kinks are.
We call it "kicking the router". Ours usually only flakes out when Mike is out of town, which means I have to make the trip from my 2nd-floor office to the basement and back at least two of three times to get it working again. (Otherwise, I'd just use the intercom and get him to unplug/replug the darned thing.
