Teaser Tuesday: Summer for the Gods

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• On your blog or other social media, share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers! Everyone loves Teaser Tuesday. Post a link at www.ThePurpleBooker.com/ as a response to the week's Teaser Tuesday.

My teaser is from one of my current reads, the nonfiction book Summer for the Gods: The Scopes Trial & America's Continuing Debate Over Science & Religion, by Pulitzer Prize winner Edward L. Larson.

"'Schools were not established to teach and encourage the pupil to think,' Clarence Darrow wrote of his own nineteenth-century education. 'From first grade to the end of the college course (students) were taught not to think, and the instructor who dared to utter anything in conflict with ordinary beliefs and customs was promptly dismissed, if not destroyed.'"
