The other night, my  son asked me how many inches equal thirteen feet. I prompted, "How would you figure that out?" To my surprise, he replied, "Twelve times thirteen.... That equals 156!" Yes, my five-year-old can multiply two-digit numbers in his head. Sometimes he really blows me away.

Thanksgiving is this week, and I am so looking forward to it. We're having dinner at my cousin Ami's house. She's a wonderful hostess and a good cook, and she has two little boys, so there are playmates and toys and kids' movies to keep my son amused. I'm bringing a salad and a chocolate dessert. But the greatest thing about Thanksgiving this year is that we have some family members coming from out of town! Along with the local relatives -- us, Ami's family, my mom and grandfather, and Ami's parents -- her brother Kevin is driving up from North Carolina, and TWO of my sisters are coming to town! Maria is driving down from New Hampshire today with two of her three children, and Susan is driving up from South Carolina. (I think she's getting a ride with cousin Kevin.) My sisters and I don't see each other nearly as often as we'd like, so I'm psyched! Tomorrow we're going to do something tourist-y in D.C. and then have dinner at my house.

Ya'll are in soooo much trouble. (BTW, keep the young math genius away from your checkbook, E-Trade, casinos, and power tools. Just sayin'.) Happy Turkey Day! (Or ToFurky Day, as the case may be.)

thanks!

Thanks for bringing the chocolate cake! After being grossed out by the carrot casserole and seeing pumpkin pie and apple pie for dessert - it was like a drink of water in the desert (or is that dessert!!) to see an actual real dessert! (Pumpkin pie is just gross and apples should be eaten fresh -not baked! And I'm just not even going to go there with the carrot casserole as you and I share the same opinion on that one!!)
