Everything a Girl Dreams Of?

I've been seeing ads ad nauseum for a new Hasbro toy, the Rose Petal Cottage, a playhouse for little girls. It comes with a toy stove. Other available accessories are a crib for your baby doll, a chair for sitting in while you tend to your baby, and a play washer and dryer. The commercials talk about how this toy includes everything to allow a little girl's dreams to "take flight." Gag me with a spoon. The average American house contains a whole lot of things besides appliances. Why would Hasbro choose to equip this thing with a washer and dryer, instead of, say, a bookshelf and a toy computer? Even when I was five, laundry was not a big part of my dreams for the future. And why don't they market crap like this to little boys? Boys live in houses, too, right? I don't have a little girl, but if I did, you can be sure I would not be buying one of these things.
