Late-Night SheNaNogans

November 19th, 2017 (06:49 pm)

It's November, also known as National Novel Writing Month, also known as NaNoWriMo. I've been pushing hard to make some progress on my science fiction novel this month. And while I won't come close to 50,000 words this month, I might make half that, which would be OK with me; that would be 25,000 words that I didn't have on October 31.

Friday night was a crazy NaNo event, the all-night write-in at a 24-hour IHOP in Fairfax. I had always wanted to go to one of these! The event was billed as 6 pm to 6 am, though most people didn't stay for the entire 12 hours. I arrived around 7:30. At our most populous point, we had probably had close to two dozen writers there. By 3:30, when I gave up and headed home, six writers remained.

But I did manage to make some headway on my storyline, and to figure out the solutions to some pesky plotting problems.
