Pride and Prejudice and Guinea Pigs

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single author in possession of a good storyline, must be in want of characters who are guinea pigs.

Or, if it is not quite universally acknowledged, perhaps it should be.

Today I received my copy of A Guinea Pig Pride & Prejudice, adapted by Alex Goodwin from the original novel by Jane Austen, but with all the characters turned into guinea pigs. The guinea pigs are not written into the story. Instead, the text has been drastically abridged to picture-book length, and is lavishly illustrated with photographs of scenes from the book, in which all of the characters are cute and furry little guinea pigs. Dressed in Regency costumes.

Action Figure Jane Austen cannot decide if she should feel gravely insulted or gleefully amused.

And I must procure more copies of this masterpiece for my own Little Free Library, and for my What Would Jane Read? blog project.
