Saturday Photo Hunt: PLANTER

photohunter logo

IMG_1864 Planter, 40%The theme for last week's Saturday Photo Hunt was PLANTER.

I shot this photo at the Laura Plantation, an old Creole sugar plantation outside of New Orleans. This big old, cast-iron bowl was not originally intended as a planter. It was actually a syrup kettle, used for stirring the sugar syrup as part of the sugar-making process, back when this was a working plantation rather than a historic site.

I like the texture of the old, scarred metal and its contrast with the old, scarred wood.

Similar kettles around the plantation are being used as planters. This one wasn't, yet, but it seems like it would make a good one.

the planter

interesting. save for the handles it really would make a beautiful planter and a big one at that.

Re: the planter

I'm still planning to post for GUESS, but I haven't figured out which picture to use. I'm sure I'll come up with something in a day or two.
