Saturday Photo Hunt: SCRUMPTIOUS

P1000746 crop 40% - THIS ONEThis weekend's Saturday Photo Hunt theme is SCRUMPTIOUS.

I bake a lot, so I thought about spotlighting one of my own (less than professional-looking) creations.

On the other hand, I visited Italy last year, and sampled some of the world's most SCRUMPTIOUS food. The only hard part was choosing which photo, from the many possibilities in my archives. The one I've selected is a photo I took through a shop window in Siena, in the region of Tuscany.

The delicacy on the next shelf up from the bottom is a local specialty, panforte. Technically, it's a kind of Italian fruitcake. But don't be alarmed. It bears absolutely no resemblance to the ghastly stuff marketed as fruitcake in other, non-Italy places. I can't tell you the exact blend of spices in these particular varieties of panforte: each bakery meticulously guards its secret recipe. (Though I can tell you that the panforte at this bakery is heavenly; scrumptious, in fact.) And I can link you to this recipe for panforte that I found online.

Scrumptious! Now I think I need dessert.

Next week's Saturday Photo Hunt theme: wither.

Photo Hunt

I believe I was in that shop when I was last in Siena. Yes, everything was amazing there.

Great shot for this week's theme.

Re: Photo Hunt

Yes, it was amazing! Our tour guide recommended this particular shop as our meeting place after some free time wandering the town on our own.

Then again, pretty much everything to eat in Italy was scrumptious. I am so dying to go back!!!
