Christmas in January

The grocery stores are selling chocolate bunnies. Swimsuit catalogs are arriving in the mail. But here at Morgini Manor, we still have our Christmas tree up. We usually leave it up late - mostly because my husband has absorbed some traditions from the Eastern European emigres he works with, who celebrate Christmas on January 6. But January 6 is long gone, and our tree is still holding court in the living room, its little lights twinkling away. I'd like to say it's an effort to keep the spirit of the holidays alive. But I'm afraid it has more to do with plain old procrastination. I know, we're hopeless.

Ours is still up

by expedient of the fact we have four inches of snow/ice on top of the outside basement hatch that the tree has to go through to go back downstair. I did put the ornaments away before Siegfreid decided to get organized and take them down for me--some of them are to delicate for his kitty care.

Thanks for telling me that! I was beginning to think we were the only ones!

Put that tree away!

Quick - put that tree away and claim back your space that it is taking up! I swear my house always breathes a sigh of relief when all the Christmas junk is stored safely back in the boxes in the basement (I know I feel better when it's all gone!) - and my house always feels larger and more open once it's all away!
